Staff governors bring a unique staff perspective to the board. Read on to understand your responsibilities as a staff governor, and the restrictions on the scope of your role.

Note for academies

Staff governors aren't a specified category in academies, but you may have this category anyway. Bear in mind that this article is based on legislation for maintained schools, but you can still use it to give you a sense of what the role involves.

Roles and responsibilities

Your role is to bring your unique staff perspective to the board. Apart from that, it's no different from other governors, and you'll help the board carry out its statutory duties.
