Reporting to governors template: download
We worked with two of our associate education experts, David Roche and Gulshan Kayembe, to develop a KeyDoc template that primary schools can use to help them report key information to governors on a routine basis.
You can download the template via the link below:
Using the KeyDoc
Schools can use this template flexibly, adding or amending aspects to suit their circumstances and priorities.
For example, as primary schools have developed their own assessment systems they may need to adapt the 'Attainment and progress' section of the template to reflect this.

Some schools have developed KPIs to give a snapshot of how well the school is performing against important targets. One of our articles links to examples of KPIs from schools:
We have developed a KeyDoc template that schools can use to report on finance to the governing body. You can find it in the following article from The Key, which also features examples of reports that schools have prepared for governors:
David Roche is a former headteacher currently working as an education consultant and school improvement partner.
Gulshan Kayembe is an independent consultant who has experience of inspecting schools. As a consultant, she provides mentoring for senior leaders and has worked as an external adviser on headteachers’ performance management.
This article was updated in response to a question from a governor of a medium-size urban primary school in the north west.
