Your school must use the DfE's template to publish its strategy statement

This is separate from your school's report to the board – there are no requirements for the format in which your school leaders report to you on the pupil premium. 

If your school's pupil premium allocation is based on more than 5 eligible pupils, it must:

The DfE will perform monitoring checks on a sample of schools' published reports.  

This is explained in section 5.2.1 of the conditions of grant.

Your school must demonstrate the evidence basis for its spending

Your school must show how its spending strategy is informed by research evidence and refer to a range of sources, including the toolkit published by the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF). The DfE says this in section 4.1 of the conditions of grant.
