Your role

Your board is responsible for monitoring how your school buys goods and services – also known as ‘procurement’.
Your aim should be to make sure that procurement is:
- Aligned with your strategic direction
- Getting value for money
- Compliant with relevant statutory requirements and regulations
It's up to your senior leadership team to decide how and what to buy, as long as they follow the rules and procedures set out in your school's policy.
What is value for money?
This doesn’t mean always picking the cheapest option. Buying something that’s more expensive initially might save you money in the long term if it’s of a higher quality and will last longer.
