Staff employed by the school

  • Verification of identity
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (with barred list information for those who will be engaged in ‘regulated activity’)
  • Barred list check if the individual will start work in regulated activity before the DBS certificate is available
  • Verification of mental and physical fitness to carry out work responsibilities
  • Verification of right to work in the UK
  • Further checks your school considers appropriate for individuals who have lived or worked outside the UK. These could include:
    • Criminal record checks
    • Obtaining a letter of professional standing from the professional regulating authority in the country where the applicant has worked, confirming it has not imposed sanctions or restrictions on the individual, or is aware of any reason why they might be unsuitable
  • Verification of professional qualifications, as appropriate
