We look at the governance structures in maintained primary and special schools. One of these follows the 'circle model', with no permanent committees.
Governing boards with two committees
Community primary school in Greenwich
The full governing board of Henwick Primary School meets three times a year. The school also has two committees which meet three times a year:
- Standards and curriculum committee
- Business and resources committee
Each of the school's nine governors serves on at least one committee.
Community special school in Surrey
Portesbery School's governing board comprises 12 governors. It has two main committees. These are the:
- Resources committee
- Children and learning committee
The school also has a pay committee and a headteacher’s performance review committee.
