Governors have overall responsibility for premises management
All boards are responsible for how their school is used on a day-to-day basis.
Maintained schools: you have day-to-day control over what happens in school buildings and grounds both in and outside of school hours. You're also responsible for deciding how school facilities are used, and have the power to provide community facilities/services and to support these from your budget.
Academies: you don't have statutory control over your premises – refer to the terms on which you occupy the site to see what your powers are for what happens on a day-to-day basis and around community use. You should check your articles of association and funding agreement for any other requirements affecting your trust.
