How to create an instrument of government

  1. Your governing board drafts the instrument
  2. Foundation governors, trustees or appropriate religious bodies approve it (where relevant)
  3. Your board submits the instrument of government to your LA
  4. Your LA checks the draft instrument complies with the legal requirements
  5. If it does comply, your LA will ‘make’ the instrument
