Need-to-know: STPCD 2022 published

All teachers will get a 5% pay increase, with higher increases for those on some parts of the main pay range. Working days are reduced to 194 this school year to reflect the bank holiday for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The new version of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD) is valid from 1 September 2022.

The STPCD covers teachers in maintained schools, and teachers in academies whose terms of employment transferred over at the time of conversion. The guidance comes out once a year and sets out things like pay ranges, working hours and pay progression.

The main changes this year are:

1. September 2022 pay award: a 5% increase to all pay and allowance ranges and advisory points

Some teachers on the main pay range will get a salary increase of more than 5%. 

All pay uplifts will apply retrospectively from 1 September 2022. 

The pay range for teachers depends on their role and their school's location. See the new pay ranges below (you don't need to know these in detail and we've included these tables for your reference only):
