Use our checklist

Go through the checklist with your designated safeguarding lead (DSL) to satisfy yourself, and the governing board, that your school has appropriate safeguarding arrangements in place.

There's no specific frequency for this monitoring

The Department for Education (DfE)'s statutory safeguarding guidance, Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE), doesn't specify how often you should monitor your school's safeguarding provision.

But do check with your DSL whether your local safeguarding partners set their own guidelines for this.

Get to grips with the latest changes to the checklist Our checklist has now been updated so it's in line with KCSIE 2023, which comes into force on 1 September 2023.
